The New Identity of Machine Intelligence

The New Identity of Machine Intelligence
#Exhibitions

Conceived as a sequel to the exhibition AI Delivered: The Abject, this new chapter AI Delivered: Redemption is a reflection featuring numerous voices that accentuates the process of “redemption” of artificial intelligence and its new conceptual implications. The exhibition imagines a new sort of artificial intelligence - liberated from the intelligence based solely on human standards and parameters, machine intelligence becomes an entity of another type, capable of subjectivity and a consciousness different than that of humans. The set-up of the exhibition allows the artists to explore how such new forms of artificial intelligence can be conceived to explore new artistic means, as well as new post-human understandings and perspectives The artistic duo of Cesar & Lois, for example, with the kinetic installation Allochronic Cycles, seek to explore a system of artificial intelligence which learns from the temporal cycles of nature, functioning independently of the interventions of anthropomorphic organisms. In the work Bird Language by Helena Nikonole, meanwhile, a neural web “trains” the sounds of the nightingale in such a way as to establish a new form of communication between non-human agents. This cognitive extension, which pushes beyond the distinction between species, anticipates the comprehension between different species, encouraging cooperation between different subjects that co-exist and co-evolve in unison despite their differences.
